The SWATCH Gent has a plastic strap and a white
background colour. The two halves of the strap both
feature three portraits of a red rat in a comic
style with prominent ears, coloured brown on the
inside. The strap also depicts golden rice grains
and little golden hearts. The rice grains symbolize
the rice which the Chinese eat on the occasion of
their New Year’s parties and is said to encourage
positive thinking. Then there are the Chinese
characters denoting the words rat and rice, again in
gold. The ideogram for rice also appears in red at
the very end of the strap half at 6 o’clock. The
buckle and loop are made of transparent plastic and
the loop is also decorated with a little red heart.
The watch case is made of translucent synthetic
material with a white dial. Fine Arabic numerals in
brown from 1 to 12 surround the outer rim of the
dial with delicate, golden line markers to denote
the hours and minutes. A narrow red ring then
follows towards the centre. The same comic rat who
figures on the strap appears in the centre of the
ring, this time in gold with brown bands. The body
is printed on the dial and the head on the inside of
the watch glass. The minute hand takes the shape of
a prominent golden rice grain, while the hour hand
is tipped by a little red circle
